Group Affiliation: Future Foundation
History: If ever there was a relationship started under poor circumstances, it was that of Mary’s parents. Eventually, however, Lyja and Johnny reconciled and began anew, finding that they truly did love each other after all. This eventually led to an egg, which led to a daughter named Mary. She was the apple of her parents’ eye and a holy terror to her beloved “Uncle” Ben.
Unlike Val or Franklin, Mary grew up with the expectation that she’d eventually become a member of the Fantastic Four. (Or whatever number it was up to by that point. Between herself, Val, Franklin, and the Brothers Grimm, it was probably going to be five. More if she could get Franklin’s girlfriend to join). These dreams were dashed when her uncle and aunt vanished in battle with Doctor Doom.
Though the Richards were gone, their dream lived on. Johnny, unable to properly cope, relocated his family to Chicago, where he continued to act as a super-hero on occasion, slowly heading towards retirement. Mary, who showed signs of intelligence (yeah yeah, laugh it up Uncle Ben), as well as a spirit of adventure, however, wanted to join the Future Foundation, the organization acting in trust to the Richards’ imaginaut dreams. As soon as she was able, she signed up, taking classes under the foundation.
Circumstances eventually brought Remi deNamor, the alternate reality son of Sue and Namor who was staying with the Avengers, to her attention, and one visit from the Grimm brothers later, plus a mad attack by the Mole Man, and a new generation of heroes was born.
Powers: Despite her half-human heritage, Mary’s DNA is almost entirely Skrull, and with it comes the ability to mimic the physical appearance of anything and, in many cases, duplicate the nature abilities of whatever it is she’s turned herself into. Unlike traditional Skrulls, however, Mary does not seem limited in the amount of mass she can increase or decrease herself by.
